I really like how they say we are a bunch of complainers when they see no problem with their 500-700 enrollment schools playing in D1 against our 250-350 schools.

That's what I was thinking when I read it yesterday. This first paragraph....

The new system is the VHSL’s latest attempt to appease the tiny Group A schools, especially those in regions C and D who have cried and complained for years they couldn’t compete on a year-in and year-out basis for a state title under the former enrollment cutoffs for the divisions. In other words, it’s not about earning a state title, but getting the easiest path to one.....

He wants it to stay the way it was because it was "their" easiest path to a state title. Buffalo Gap was almost twice the size of Clintwood (enrollment wise) and they won by a td. I'm sure that Clintwood could have found a few kids out of those extra 300 that could have easily helped them. We'll see how well they do now that they're not playing schools that are 2-3 times smaller than them.

Neither Riverheads nor Buffalo Gap would have a single state title (they have four between them in D-1 since 2000) had they been forced to play in D-2 where they belong. They would have had to have beaten a Gretna or Essex just in their own half of the state, not to mention beating a Gate City, Radford or Giles in the finals.

I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!! I mean shoot look at it like this, its our time to show that clintwood, gatecity, JIB, and the new consolidated schools can compete. Most teams down here play outside of their division size when it comes to non district games. Powell Valley always played Richlands, Breathit KY, and other larger schools every year. Gatecity plays Sullivan South and Richlands just to name a few larger schools. I agree with the post about buffalo and river heads. they would have to knock off some tough schools but hey so will any team from here. we arent slouches in football, we have just been a little weaker than usual. Time will tell if the LDP is back on a rise to winning or not, and we know that the clinch mountain district is tough
